Naive-Satirical and Abstract-Conceptual Art

I am an immigrant artist from Vietnam. My practice consists of  two main groups of subject/style: Sociopolitical figurative and abstract.

In the abstract group ("Precarious Equilibrium of Ambivalent States" series) I use geometric forms to meditate upon the duality-ladden relationships that exist throughout the physical, emotional and spiritual world, and invite viewers to see order and harmony within chaos and turbulence.

In the sociopolitical group  ("Lost & Found in the Time of INfection" series), I tackle, in my naive-satirical style, burning sociopolitical subjects of my adopted country to protest what damages we inflict on our earth and ourselves (social justice, racism, climate change, mass murders, insurrection) and celebrate kindness, community, rationality and creativity. 

In the past I also painted about the sociopolitical conditions of my country of origin, Vietnam  ("Legends & Myths" series). A smaller series ("Icon") paints pop portraits of world cultural icons with a twist.
